When the temperature climbs, an espresso tonic is a bright, refreshing alternative to a milky iced latte. The bitterness of the tonic and the citrus of fresh orange lift the coffee's fruity notes beautifully.
Makes: 1 tall glass
You'll need
- 1–2 espresso shots from your OutIn
- 150 ml chilled tonic water
- A slice of fresh orange (plus a little juice, optional)
- Plenty of ice
Method
- Fill a tall glass with ice and add the orange slice.
- Pour in the chilled tonic water, leaving room at the top.
- Brew your espresso and pour it slowly over the tonic so it floats in a layer.
- Stir gently just before drinking.
Tips
- Pour slowly – tonic fizzes up when the espresso hits it.
- Lighter, fruity roasts work best here.
- No tonic? Sparkling water with a squeeze of lemon makes a lighter version.
